THE PROJECT

A Visual Year was a year-long effort of compiling, editing and designing a website to showcase the best work produced by the Photojournalism students at the Rochester Institute of Technology. Seven editors worked together to collect and edit through hundreds of single images, picture stories and video projects to choose the work that best represented the RIT Photojournalism program. All content showcased was produced by Photojournalism students at RIT ranging from recent grads to freshman in 2015.

Editors: Kim Bubello, Joanna Graham, Kristen McNicholas, Jackie Molloy, Nina Peskanov, Margaret Seward, and Elijah Walker

DESIGN / SOCIAL MEDIA

TYPEFACE

For the 'A Visual Year' logo we chose the typeface Lato. We used Lato Black and Lato Hairline to achieve the different weights in the logo's text.

COLORS

All colors used for the site and logos were pulled from the websites feature photograph of a diver photographed by RIT student Santiago Zurbia Flores Otero.

PLATFORM

The website was built with Wordpress.org. We purchased a template and worked with basic HTML and CSS to achieve the look we wanted for the site.

SOCIAL MEDIA

As a team we utilized social media platforms such as Instagram and Facebook to promote the work being showcased on the site, the photographers who contributed their work, and our video trailer that we produced to promote the website launch.
